What is Reiki therapy?
Reiki therapy is a spiritually based hands on treatment that is used for stress reduction, relaxation and healing. We are all made up of energy, and sometimes stress, physical illness, or traumatic experiences can impact the flow of our energy. Events that cause distress can erode and train our bodies for physical ailments.
How does it work?
Sessions are conducted with an individual either sitting up or lying down. Unlike massage therapy, you are fully clothed for a Reiki session.
A Reiki session begins with as assessment of each of your 7 main chakras (energy centers). This tests for blockages or imbalances that may be impacting your physical or emotional health. This helps give the therapist an idea of areas that may need special attention to improve your overall health.
After the assessment, the therapist than uses his/her own life force energy by a non-invasive lying of hands over your body. This helps to heal and balance any blocks or imbalances that you may have.
What results can I expect?
Most clients report an immediate sense of relaxation after their first Reiki session. Some clients may not notice a huge change the first time, but since Reiki therapy is progressive, they will feel the results after a couple of sessions. After a Reiki session, you may experience:
- Increased relaxation
- Improved digestion
- Improved sleep
- Resolution of pain, including headaches and tension
- Increased meditative state
- Improved focus
- Decreased anxiety
